Franco is Dead: long live Franco

The Right Wing Partido Popular has passed many anti-democratic laws, badly led Spain through the financial crises of Neoliberalism and has never come to terms with its fascist past. Now the dictator is openly celebrated in public. Astrid Menesanch Tobieson on the anniversary of his death on the 20th November, witnessed hundred of fascist arms stretched to the sky.

80 years after the Spanish civil war when in three bloody years, 1936-1939, has led to West Europe wanting to ignore the 1930s totalitarianism and regarding this period as an historical anomaly, soon to be forgotten. The witnesses, like Ernest Hemingway, George Orwell and Arthur Koestler, were clear that Spain was down the chute.

I am abandoning this idea of  summaries of articles in Word Front.

Will go back to re-blogging, if there is more variety than at present.

Happy New Year to all!
